Playing with hexies!

Hi all,

Do you find that every now and then you seem to get fixated on particular things? For example, at the moment there are 3 things I love the most…. 1. Owls (on fabric, softies) 2. Fabric with words on it 3. anything hexagon!

I have had the papers and the perspex template since the Quilters Trail back in April. But you know, even with all the absolutely beautiful inspiration out there in blogland, I still had trouble getting motivated.
But it finally happened yesterday and suddenly a flower appeared…

Too easy! Now I just need to stay in the groove!

I also have a teaser especially for Vreni….

Aren’t I nasty! LOL! We are having a little 2 person swap and this is Vreni’s gift all wrapped up and ready to go.
I can’t wait to post pics but I will wait so that Vreni gets a surprise….until then

Keep an eye out here for my “giving it back” giveaway coming soon!
I seem to be winning a few giveaways at the moment. I would like to share my appreciation for all the generous people out there so I will be having a little giveaway of my own. I won’t give away things I have won because I love them too much but I will think of something to give back!

Be happy,
Jess

Loose ends….

Hi all,

I haven’t got anything freshly made by me this week but I thought you might be interested in a couple of loose ends!

This is the quilt I received in the Little Quilt Swap. It is made by Barbara, it is great and so fitting because my boys love flying kites! I am going to hang it in the hall opposite their bedroom doors.

Guess who made this?

The one and only Dear Fii! I won a wrist pincushion hand made by Fiona herself! I couldn’t believe when she sent me an email…but a few weeks later this arrived so I guess I can stop pinching myself now!

Lastly, I thought I’d throw in a picture of what I have started working on today. I am going to start stitching it tonight! Can’t wait to use those Cosmo threads!

Be happy,
Jess

Frilly book cover!

Hi all,

I only have one project to share at the moment, I have many more in my imagination but unfortunately that can’t sew them up for me!

There are quite a few variations of this design out there, my inspiration was Lindsey’s notebook covers at her blog The Pleated Poppy.

I notice now looking again at her pictures that her ruffle seems to have a raw edge which makes it a lot less bulky. But never mind, this is my first attempt at a book cover with a frilly bit.

I really love this fabric, I don’t know the name of it or any of its particulars but I do know I should have bought a lot more than a fat quarter! Even that back looks good!

I also sewed some cute ribbon into the top seam to make a couple of book marks! I wouldn’t want to lose my place now would I?

Be happy,
Jess

Ps. I have used Windows Live Writer to write this post, so there will be hip hip hoorays if it works well! So far it has been too easy!

Fete wrap-up

Hi all,

I hope everyones week has started well!

My boss (mum) is on holidays for 5 weeks, meaning her workers are too. Except the customers have my number for urgent orders, and guess what – we were not even through the first week and I got a order, today more got added to it! Ugggh so of to work I go!

Anyway, the fete stuff is made and delivered, hopefully never to be seen by me again!

All up I made – 10 x Pot holders with Insul-bright wadding.

5 x Coaster sets.

6 x Tissue covers with tissue pack included.

12 x Child size aprons.

8 x Calico book bags.

Hopefully it all sells and the kindy makes some money out of it! Pity it can't go towards TP's fees! LOL!

Be Happy,
Jess

PS. I've writen this post with Microsoft word – heres hoping it is successful!
Okay - it didn't work quite right, I couldn't get the pictures to load. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Or have any ideas on quicker ways to do a blog post?
