lost that lovin’ feeling

Hi all,

I have to admit that for the last few weeks I have completely lost the “blog” loving feeling! I have had no desire to read blogs or do my own blog posts….

I can’t really explain why, maybe it is just that I have a lot going on in my life that has nothing to do with my blog and creativity. Maybe I should share more about my real life but I notice when I do posts that aren’t sewing related readers lose interest so I don’t know, I kind of feel like what is the point. If all blogs are sugar coated versions of our lives are we really inspiring each other or just putting ourselves and others under pressure to be “perfect” when that concept just doesn’t exist.

Not that I expect answers but - Do you want to know more about me, what makes me tick or should I just stick to the creative stuff?

I did get a tiny bit of sewing done this month, a skirt for a wedding that I haven’t taken a photo of and a pouch for my partner in the Sweet Pouch Swap, I will share pics of that when my partner has received it.

I will leave you with a picture of one lonely little block from the Afternoon Delight quilt.

Afternoon Delight block 5
Sorry for my rant….

Jess

What a charming little block! I think most of us completely understand that sometimes "life" takes over and blogging is the last thing on our minds. There will be "calmer" days around the corner, there always are, even if you can't believe it right now. I'm not sure how I feel about the personal stuff. I'm not too sure how much I want to share with the world either. I think you should do what you feels right for you. xx

It's hard to find that balance between sharing personal details and keeping it all quilty. I don't think I've mastered it at all. I think you just have to find the mark that feels right for you :)

I hope that things settle a bit for you and you get that creative feeling back again!

I think we all go through times when we feel like you do. Share what you want when you want and don't worry about followers. It's your blog. Enjoy. And we'll enjoy along with you.

I agree with everyone above, just write when you feel like it. I haven't written on my blog about Traveling Thru Greece for a long time, just because I am so disappointed with Greece. I like reading about life too, so just share what you want.

What a cute little block. We all go thru that at times. I'll get all caught up, then, have no interest in checking any more posts until I'm way behind. I'll have lots of things I want to blog about, but, no time or no mood to blog, then, too much time has passed, and there are other things to blog about instead. It's more fun to hear about 'life' things, too. It helps to make the blogger 'real'.

Hi, Jess, I always read your blog, as I am interested in all the things my blogging friends do. You just blog whatever you want girl. Also, its good to know others rant a bit now and then. My poor sis got a huge text rant from me recently, and it did us both good, as we laughed over our frustrations. I always love to see your stitching, and that is a really sweet block......some day you can show it with all its beautiful neighbours in your blog xx

I always like to hear a little of both myself. I don't share much personal on my blog either, but I am happy to lend an ear or prayer when needed. Feel free to email if you like.

I think it's both common and perfectly healthy to step away from all blogs from time to time. And I also think a blog is your own space and you can put whatever you want on it. If you're doing it for money, I can understand your concern. If you're not doing it for money, you should feel comfortable just blogging away about anything you feel like and don't focus on the number of followers. Quality of quantity ... unless, I guess, you have financial goals for your blog. Blogging, I think, is therapeutic ... just as regular old paper and pen journaling is. Personally, I appreciate quilting blogs where the bloggers are the whole package and not just quilting. I like knowing them on a more personal level.

Finding a balance can be hard. You just have to write what you feel comfortable with. Personally I like to feel like I am getting to know the person behind the blog but only do what you want. hugs xx

Jess, of course we want to know about you. The best posts are when you sprinkle tidbits about yourself in with the creative stuff. It makes them real. But don't force it. Share what you want to share. It's your blog after all.

As for not wanting to read other blogs, I think it is perfectly acceptable if you take a break now and then and just focus on your own stuff. I think we all feel this way sometimes.

Love ya, with hugs if you need them.
