Time flys!

Hi all,

Wow, where is the month going? Over halfway through June already, one more week of school and the. Holidays again...I can't believe it!

I have so much to share again. My Friday schedule has gone out the window, I need to get back on track with that because it was good the be a bit more regular.

I finished the quilt that my cousin and his wife commissioned for their little girl...it took 6 months. The quilting really stumped me, I mooned over so many awesome free motion quilting designs and ended up not knowing what to do so eventually I decided to quilt it in a stipple because it is for a little girl and will get lots of use and plenty of washes. I have found all over quilting to hold up really well on all my quilts that get lots of use.

I used a Riley Blake wide width fabric for the backing. It is 60" x 90" in size and I quilted both of the quilts with Aurifil #2415. I kept the label fairly simple but included a card which had all the care details in it.

I also played with some left overs and made a matching mini. Which is soooo cute!

And for the backing I used some left over 10" squares.

While I had the quilting machine set up I thought I would finish a quilt from my UFO list...yay! Another top finally quilted!

I pieced this top 2 years ago on retreat and it has sat in my cupboard ever since. It is a great feeling to have it finished!

I also tried out the Jaybird Quilts Hex n More ruler.....I love it! And I made up the pattern Candy Dishes.

I am getting the other rulers and some more patterns to try now as I loved it so much!

I used part of a Noteworthy charm pack and Bella Grey for the front. On the back I used some Sunkissed fabric. Can you tell I love Sweetwater fabrics?! And these were pieced and quilted with Aurifil #2600. Actually the owl quilt above was quilted with Auriful too, another product I am really loving!

Well I think that is enough for now!

Talk soon, Jess :)

WIPs and UFOs

Hi all,

This year I am wanting to focus on my ever growing pile of WIPs and UFOs. It worked out well that this is also a major part of the Fabriholics Anonymous challenge.

WIPs - The projects I am actively working on at the moment are the Midnight at the Oasis quilt and a double wedding ring quilt.

I also have a commission quilt that I would like to start in February once school is back in.

Now my list of UFOs is pretty extreme….I am a starter! Unfortunately not so much of a finisher it seems but I hope to change that this year.

- Marti Michell quilt. Quilting is done and now needs to be bound.
- Pure Schnibbles quilt. Needs quilting.

- Baltimore quilt (not pictured…also my oldest UFO at approx. 7 years old). Needs quilting.

2014 UFOs
Unfinished quilts.
- Blocks from Ausmod bee 2013. Need to be put together.
- Polaroid blocks. Swap 2012/2013. Need something done to them, not sure how I will finish them yet.
- Josephs Coat QAL 2009. Need to be finished but unsure how to finish them off as the QAL was never finalised.
- Mariners Compass quilt circa 2009. Need to finish the appliqué.
- Afternoon Delight quilt 2013. Continue working on the appliqué.
- X and + blocks from QCA bee 2012 and swaps 2012/13. Need to be put together.

It looks like I have my work cut out for me…and I am pretty sure that I have missed a couple of things. Not to mention the quilts I would love to start too!

Bye for now,
Jess :)
