Sewing Bag

Hi Everyone!

This week has been crazy busy! But guess what…I am going on retreat tomorrow for 3 nights! Yay! I think I might sleep the whole time LOL

I will miss my boys, I have only spent one night away since the youngest was born nearly 4 years ago! But they will be fine, TP is planning which takeaway they will have each night but I have told him they will not be having fast food every night! (I hope) And they have a Grandma and an Aunty close by too!

I was wondering for all you retreat goers….what is your plan of attack when you go? do you have set projects you want to get done or do you take a few and just go with how you feel?

Before I get going though I wanted to share this cute little bag I made.

I love this fabric range! Do you know what it is? I do…just checkin’ if you know your ranges!

This is designed to be a lunch bag but I am using it for my sewing things.

The pattern is a free one. You can get it over at Pink Penguin. Ayumi is so talented and I have another of her handbags on my to do list! The fabric is Mama Said Sew by Sweetwater.

The only thing I changed with the pattern was to piece the main panel because a fat 1/8th was too small. And I used what interfacing I had on hand – so my bag has a layer of fusible wadding and a layer of fusible woven interfacing.

Well, I am off to cook dinner and then figure out what I need to take tomorrow!

Make the most of your time at retreat and have fun sewing to your hearts content. I'm not knowing the fabric range in your bag but I know the bag, it turned out gorgeous.

When we go away on retreat I always have a list of projects I plan to do. I never get through them all though! I always have my fabric cut out and interfacing ironed on etc before I go. Then you don't miss any action while finding a big table to cut at or iron. In saying that I am going for a sewing weekend next weekend and I have not done anything to prepare!

Darling bag! I've only been on 12 hour daytreats. I usually take one project where I'm attempting something new (so I can ask for help!!!) and then I take something where not much thought is required (so I can talk without fear of goofing up). I agree with the earlier post - iron and cut all you can before you go! And honestly - fast food won't kill them in just three days!

Glad to hear you haven't spent days stocking the freezer for DH, hopefully he remembers how to turn on the BBQ!
When l go on retreat l like to take a couple of projects or one big one if it's time consuming. If I know we will be blessed with plenty of space I take a quilt to pin or layout so l can get the block placement right. Mostly though I try to not take too much cos I have to lug it myself! I now know that I never achieve everything, but I'm OK with that, cos its the relaxing, child free, no chores time with your stitching buddies that matters, it's not the sewing Olympics!

Ps if they eat junk while your away they might be just that bit keener to encourage you to book into retreat next year!

I'm hoping that you are having a fantastic time at the retreat. I'm sure you'll be a big hit with your gorgeous new bag. Can't wait to hear how it was when you come back.

Love your sewing bag. I'm sure it would inspire me on a retreat - and nice to carry your sewing things in too. Have a wonderful time.

And junk food isn't sooooooooo bad. Once I left mine with daddy to go away and they were jazzed that daddy fed them hamburgers for breakfast and pancakes for dinner. I was horrified at the time, from this perspective, it is just a fun memory.

Enjoy!
