Just in time!

Hi all,

Today is the last day of term one, so while I had that last bit of quiet time I threw together the March block for the “And Sew On BOM” from Quiet Play.

Not loving this block, I think if I was to remake it I would change the fabrics for the large spool in the middle. Not that I am going to remake it, but as you know there are always “ifs”!

Another awesome thing that is happening here is this -

I recently acquired a table and a Janome 1600P, which is a semi-industrial machine, it only does straight sewing which is fine as I plan for her to be my FMQ machine. Although I am going to give her a go at piecing too and see how she goes. She came with a walking foot and a stippling foot and I have used her a lot before – she is my old sewing machine from work and has been made redundant by a newer faster industrial machine. We are old friends!

So we are going to recess her into the table, as I have seen done on other blogs. We have a hole now! I can’t wait to show you it all done!

Wednesday again!

Hi all,

I can’t believe it is that time of the week again! So what have I been working on? not much!

I made block 2 of the And Sew On BOM, it is called Seam Ripper for obvious reasons! I deliberately put one of the fabrics the wrong side up…that is for the unpicker to work on!

I mended the block that my little helper did some work on LOL I think once the quilt is together no one will notice my seam in the corner. To me will be a reminder of my little fella!

I have been enjoying getting little parcels every now and then with blocks for me. My turn in the QCA Bee 2 was January and a couple of blocks are still to come but this the ones I have so far.

What’s happening Wednesday!

I have been working on a couple of things this week and dreaming about many more! Do all quilters do that?

Anyway, this is the January block for the And Sew On BOM at Quiet Play.

I have been hoarding these fabrics for a very loooong time so it is really nice to be using them! I messed with the pattern a little to make my twill tape measure fit perfectly and I love it!

This is a quilt I am working on for the quilt appeal for Tasmania. I started with a kit that my mum got on sale….

But I changed it! I decided the yellow didn’t work perfectly with the border spots so I added in the rocket boys and then I decided the green didn’t work any more so I changed it for the orange chevron. And now I like it a lot more – it looks more modern and boyish!
